Who are we?

Steve and Kathy Piotrowski run Suffolk Birding through their business SPEC, founded in 2006. Steve has lived and birdwatched in Suffolk for nearly all of his life and birding opportunities have taken him to some wonderful places around the world, visiting all European countries (including Scandinavia and the Baltic states), Russia, Israel, Egypt, Morocco, Ghana, Gambia, Kenya, South Africa, Madagascar, India (including Goa), Malaysia, China, Tibet, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Florida, Arizona, Texas, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Venezuela and Ecuador.

What we offer

Suffolk is one of the best UK counties for wildlife and we offer bird ID courses, bird surveys and countywide birdwatching and guided wildlife tours. We also offer wildlife digital photography workshops (mainly focused on Digital SLR photography) run by one of Britain’s top expert wildlife photographers. There are also opportunities for you to be led on exclusive wildlife holidays elsewhere in Europe.

Tours can be based anywhere along the Suffolk coast or in Breckland and are tailored for birdwatchers at all levels from beginners to those more experienced. Tours are three days/nights, but a few run for four or five days. Subject to availability, there may be opportunities for you to join us for a single-day tour. Suffolk is an amazing place to birdwatch so if you, your family or a group of friends are interested in a day or arranging a tour then just contact Kathy with your requirements.

In the interests of the environment, clients will be encouraged to car share, but you can be collected and taken on your tour in a four-wheel drive vehicle for parties of up to four and we can hire in minibuses for larger groups of up to 12 persons. However, our maximum group size is usually up to seven persons.

Binoculars, telescopes and tripods are available for loan, courtesy of Viking Optical www.vikingoptical.com for those attending courses, tours and bird/nature walks that are detailed on this website. Please email in advance if optical equipment is required.

If you are interested in one of our tours elsewhere in Europe then you can find details of these on the other webpages, or if you would like an itinerary just request this via the contact page.

BIRD WATCHING VOUCHERS
& GIFT IDEAS

I am sure all will agree with Covid 19 the last two years has been a time not one of any us will ever forget. The positives are it brought the good out in many and I feel encouraged us to reconnect with nature. Foreign travel continues to be a concerning challenge for many, but again the positives are we have learnt to love what our own country has to offer. As we move into the spring the world of birds once again becomes a feature of excitement and if you would like to share Suffolk with us locals then please contact Kathy for local staycation details. Or if you are looking for a way to treat yourself in lieu of that foreign holiday, then perhaps this is the year that you purchase some new optical equipment.

We are now a registered independent trader for Viking Optical please do again feel comfortable to contact us for any advice or queries you may have about a potential purchase. We do understand that some of the equipment is very expensive and you may not be local to Suffolk but If you have a product you would like Steve to go and review for you then please drop us a line kpiotrowski@btinternet.com
